Chinese car maker is struggling to find a plant to buy or a site to build one in Europe – but still plans to go it alone

Changan won’t share a factory with another marque in Europe, despite struggling to find a suitable plant for sale or a site on which to construct one, it has told Autocar.

The Chinese car maker already has a R&D facility in Birmingham, which has been in operation since 2010, and an Italian design studio that’s home to more than 300 staff.

So many factories in Europe and the UK have closed down. Why would they need to share one? Better off reopening an existing factory in C&M.
