Ford’s European boss Jim Baumbick has renewed calls on European regulators to rethink emissions targets to “reflect the reality” of consumer demand and support manufacturers investing in hybrid technology.
The EU currently requires manufacturers to reach increasingly tough CO2 fleet average targets, with the current goal for a 90% reduction on 2021 emission levels by 2035. Meanwhile, the UK's zero-emission vehicle mandate requires an increasing percentage of cars sold to be electric.
