Dacia has launched a new warranty programme that offers up to seven years cover for cars even if they’re pre-owned and have already racked up thousands of miles.
Dacia Zen is applicable to any Dacia car that is under six years old and has covered fewer than 75,000 miles. The car must then be serviced every year for the cover to continue.
Key to the cover, Dacia says, is that owners won’t be penalised if they used non-official retailers to maintain the car in the past.
For new cars, the Zen warranty begins after the standard three-year cover ends if an official service is carried out.
It covers the cost and repair of most main defects that don't result from an accident.
It will also cover the incoming Dacia Spring electric car.
Zen brings a new competitive edge to the Romanian brand, competing with the likes of Kia’s and MG’s seven-year/100,000-miles warranties.
Better terms are offered by Peugeot (eight years or 100,000 miles) and Toyota and Lexus (10 years or 100,000 miles). These deals require servicing at a main dealer.
The move is a way of tempting owners to use in-house servicing, therefore opening another aftersales revenue stream for a brand that's renowned for producing reliable cars.
“Owning a Dacia is all about adventure, but that doesn’t mean that owners should have to worry about the unexpected,” said Steve Whitcombe, head of Dacia UK aftersales.
“The reliability and durability of our vehicles is well documented, but Dacia Zen gives our customers even more reassurance. In the unlikely event of an issue, Dacia Zen means they won’t have to pay out for any repairs and can spend the money on the things that they really want and enjoy.”
