Honda tuner says hybrids offer new tuning possibilities

Mugen could build a bespoke tuned version of Honda's forthcoming hybrid CR-Z sports car, according to the firm's european vice president.

Hiroki Toyoda said that the hybrid powertrain would create a new set of tuning opportunities, with the electric motor acting as a kind of turbo at low speeds, to compensate for a lack of torque inherent in naturally-aspirated petrol engines.

Mugen is also looking at developing a range of handling kits for the European Accord, similar to the suspension package and bodykit it offers on the Japanese market Accord, although there will not be any engine modifications.
