Nissan's new Chinese global car

Nissan will build a new series of global cars - and is showing the first of them in China later this month.

This Livina Geniss is a luxurious people carrier with seating for seven. It will be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol unit and built in China by Nissan's joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group.

There's no word on what 'global' will mean but Nissan's definition of the word has usually included Europe.

This is the first time the Japanese-French manufacturer (the cars will be built on a Renault-Nissan platform) has launched a car in China first.
