BMW is producing a special Championship Edition of its M140i super hatch to celebrate its reign as manufacturers’ and teams’ champion in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).
Following the first round of the 2018 BTCC season, BMW has confirmed that the Championship Edition will be built in just 30 units as a nod to the 30 rounds of racing in last season’s calendar.
The car comes in white, like the racing model, and features several additions to signal its BTCC connection. It gets M Sport decals along the side with Championship Edition lettering, as well as carbonfibre door mirror covers and body trim.
No changes have been made to the engine, so the car sticks with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre straight six that sends 335bhp and 369lb ft of torque to the rear wheels.
BMW has yet to confirm further details – Autocar is awaiting a response – including whether the car gains more extras such as standard-fit adaptive dampers. It has also yet to announce pricing, but given its rarity, expect a sizeable increase on the M140i’s £33,680 starting price.
Team BMW racing drivers Colin Turkington and Rob Collard have stayed in the squad for 2018, with Andrew Jordan also staying with BMW Pirtek Racing. The trio race BMW 125i M Sport cars with turbocharged 2.0-litre engines outputting about 350bhp, as per the series’ regulations.

Special low key BMW which will probably be worth a fair wack in 15 years time. A wise purchase worth keeping and enjoying, will probably be sold out by the time I finish this sentence.

Petrol will be available even longer because of EV's
I think we'll be using oil to same extent for some time yet. If anything having 50% of all traffic mileage being EV's will mean there'll be petrol available for 50% longer, say 100 years +
