Peugeot's compact soft-roader is aimed at young city dwellers and will go into production on three continents

This new Peugeot 2008 concept hints at how Peugeot’s answer to the Nissan Juke will look in production later this year. It has made its debut at the Paris motor show.

The compact soft-roader takes inspiration from a trio of earlier concepts, including the Urban Crossover from Beijing in April. At 4.14m long and 1.74m wide, the high-riding 2008 is slightly longer but narrower than the Juke.

The styling borrows the Peugeot 208 supermini’s front end and raked windscreen, and it beefs up the stance with flared arches and sculpted wings. Power comes from a 110bhp turbocharged 1.2-litre triple.

The 2008 will be built in France, China and Brazil and is aimed at young city dwellers.

Another Peugeot newcomer at the Paris show is the 301, a family saloon to be built in Spain but sold in China and emerging markets, such as eastern Europe, Russia and the Middle East.
