ASIMO robot conducts a symphony orchestra on video

Honda has showcased the musical talents of its ASIMO robot, by using it to conduct a symphony orchestra in front of a live audience.The latest-generation of Honda’s ongoing ASIMO project (a acronym for Advanced Step in Innovative Mobility) became the first android conductor – and received a round of applause as he led the Detroit Symphony Orchestra through a rendition of Honda’s theme 'The Impossible Dream”.After the performance the four-foot humanoid robot bowed to the audience.The current ASIMO robot was introduced in 2005 and is intended to explore and develop interaction between humans and machines. It can walk, talk, recognise faces and respond to questions.Honda brought ASIMO to Detroit to create awareness of the DSO’s music education program, to which the manufacturer has donated $1m.
