Peugeot’s new hybrid 508 RXH flagship has been showcased at the Frankfurt motor show. The RXH is a high-riding 508-SW-based crossover that’s likely to cost in excess of £30k.
A 2.0 HDi engine – as also featured in the 3008 HYbrid4 – powers the front wheels while an electric motor drives the rears for a CO2 output of 109g/km and 67.2mpg combined fuel economy.

With a combined output of 200bhp from the power units, the 508 RXH is able to provide a new driving experience with a choice of four modes: automatic, zero-emissions, sport or 4WD. The car has about 330lb ft of torque on tap across the two motors.
The model has different dimensions to the 508 SW, with a 40mm wider track and a height increase of 50mm. Peugeot says the 508 RXH represents its new, upmarket position and so the car comes well-equipped with electric front seats, head-up display, 18-inch wheels, panoramic glass roof, dark-tinted acoustic laminated side windows and half-leather trim as standard.
The version of the diesel-electric hybrid shown at Frankfurt will be a special launch edition limited to just 300 units, 30 of which are destined for the UK when the car goes on sale next spring. Each individually numbered example will come in a brown exterior paint finish and an Alcantara and leather interior.
