The latest mid-sized MPVs are already available with healthy discounts, despite only being on sale for a matter of weeks.
The Ford Focus C-Max is the driver’s choice of the new breed, but it looks like being the bargain hunter’s choice as well. Deals are impressive, especially if you shop on the web. Internet broker www.drivethedeal.com is already offering a 1.6 TDCi LX for £13,807 – a £1707 saving on the list price.
Ford main dealers aren’t being quite so generous at the moment, although one South London salesman reckoned he could match most on-line deals once stock starts coming through.
Deals on the stylish Renault Scénic are looking just as good, too. You should be aiming to shave a grand off the price of a 1.5 dCi Authentique, taking the cost down to £13,050.
Going the broker route is a good way of improving on that price. Carfile is currently selling a UK-sourced example for only £12,231.
But it’s bad news if you fancied landing similar discounts on the Volkswagen Touran. Most dealers are refusing to budge on list, and the best we managed was £320 off the £16,320 100bhp TDi S seven seater.
