Brand's dominant electric sales mix cuts stablemates some slack

Chinese firm Leapmotor has become critical to Stellantis's strategy in the UK, as its strong electric car sales help its European sibling brands comply with the zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) mandate.

This regulation requires an increasing proportion of manufacturers' sales to be electric, rising annually. It is set at 33% for 2026, rising to 38% next year, 52% in 2028, 66% in 2029, 80% in 2030 and 100% in 2035.
