New Connected Vehicle Rule prevents the sale of software-dependent cars from China and Russia

Polestar has effectively been banned from selling cars in the US from 2027 onwards under rules designed to target Chinese manufacturers.

The firm, which is owned by Chinese car giant Geely, says it has been denied an authorisation to sell vehicles in the country under the US’s Connected Vehicle Rule, which restricts the import and sale of certain vehicles with hardware and software linked to China or Russia.
