Track-only LaFerrari-based hybrid rival to the McLaren P1 GTR will receive new aero parts to boost performance

Ferrari has been testing new 'Evoluzione' aerodynamic parts for its FXX K track hypercar, as shown by new footage captured at Monza.

In the days following the recent Italian Grand Prix, Ferrari’s engineers have been evaluating the effectiveness of a larger fixed rear wing that spans the full width of the car and accompanying aerodynamic addenda during tests at the iconic circuit - filmed by YouTube user 19Bozzy92 in the video below.

The LaFerrari-based hybrid V12 hypercar's new parts will have been developed using Ferrari’s wind tunnel in Maranello, but now full-scale testing will verify if they bring the boost to downforce predicted by aerodynamiscists back at base.

This upgrade process mirrors that used by the brand’s Formula 1 team and is common practice for Ferrari’s track-only models. An ‘Evo’ version of the previous, Enzo-based FXX was launched in a similar vein, with improvements to the car’s bodywork but no major mechanical upgrades.

The same is expected with the FXX K, which uses a naturally aspirated 6.3-litre V12 engine that is assisted by an electric motor driven by an F1-style kinetic energy recovery system. Total system output peaks at 1021bhp.

Before the latest aerodynamic updates, the FXX K already produced 50% more downforce than the road-legal LaFerrari. At its peak, the FXX K generated 540kg of downforce at 124mph. It can lap Ferrari's Fiorano test track in just 1min 14sec, some five seconds faster than the LaFerrari.

When it was launched in 2015, the FXX K cost €2.2 million to buy. Since then, McLaren P1 GTR and Aston Martin Vulcan have appeared as track-only rivals.

Sounds

Are going to be missed! EV in all it's beauty but this is just to very very to much as the Italians say!;-) Even though the McLaren-BMW F1, Lamborghini and the Zonda engine notes sounds even better in my years!
