Citroen's Madrid buggy

Citroen will unveil this striking C-Buggy at the Madrid motor show (26-28 May).

It may lack a windscreen and windows, but it does have glass door 'portholes' and a sump guard.

Back in the real world, Citroen has chosen Madrid to launch its 173bhp HDi diesel, which will be fitted to the C5 and has dual turbo s - a small low inertia turbo for boost at low revs and a larger one which kicks in at 2700rpm.

Madrid will also be the debut of the C4's new six-speed electro-hydraulic gearbox. It's a robotised manual that Citroen hopes will offer the ease of an automatic with the economy of a manual.

In addition there will be the C2 Stop & Start, the C4 Hybrid HDi (a 1.6-litre diesel hybrid which emits only 90 g/km of CO2) and the C4 Citroen Sport, the concept car shown before the launch of the C4 which, silhouette-wise, previews Citroen's 2007 world rally car.
