Vauxhall hatch bests Ford in the sales stakes

It might be the archetypal average car, but Ford’s Focus was outsold in Europe by the Astra (below) and Clio last year.

Sales figures put the Opel/Vauxhall Astra at number one, with 437,673 sales. Renault’s Clio was second with 431,595 sales, while the Focus came in third with 418,490.

Volkswagen was Europe’s best-selling make — 1,669,837 VWs were sold last year.
