Upgraded luxury saloon gets 521bhp from its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8; due to go on sale in the summer

The new Bentley Flying Spur V8 S, which sits between the V8 and the W12 flagship model, has been revealed at Geneva.

Powered by Bentley’s twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine, the V8 S receives 521bhp, 20bhp more than the regular V8’s 500bhp. Torque comes in at 502lb ft, which gives the luxury saloon a 0-60mph time of 4.6sec and a top speed of 190mph.

'Variable displacement' technology, which shuts down four of the eight cylinders when cruising, aids in reducing fuel consumption, giving the Flying Spur V8 S a combined figure of 25.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 254g/km.

Power is delivered via an all-wheel-drive system with a 40/60 rear-biased torque split. ‘S’ mode is said to provide sharper throttle response and additional engine braking from the transmission.

The suspension, damping and electronic stability control has also been revised to improve handling.

New sporty features have been added to the exterior, such as a black radiator grille, rear diffuser, V8 S badging, bespoke treadplates and a choice of 20in alloy wheels.

Inside, the cabin gets piano black wood veneers and a three-spoke sports steering wheel as standard. A touchscreen remote control, deployed from the veneered rear centre console at the touch of a button, allows control of the car’s climate and infotainment systems from the comfort of the rear seats. The V8 S also gets Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity.

Additional sporty elements, such as dark-tinted headlights and tail-lights, black gloss door mirror covers and unique black 21in Mulliner six-spoke alloy wheels, are also available.

First customer deliveries of the Flying Spur V8 S will take place in the summer. Pricing hasn't been revealed, but expect the V8 S to command a premium over the regular Flying Spur, which costs £142,800.

Classy car.

Love it. I like a bit of posh on the side and the saloon is much more desirable than the coupe. The number plate sums it up - I want one.

Good looking luxury saloon,

Good looking luxury saloon, much prefer the twin headlight Bentley look to the London taxi style front of the Mulsanne.

Unfortunately I'll never afford to own one.
