Brabus normally concentrates on extracting as much horsepower as possible from Mercedes’ road cars, but now it’s turned its attention to a different kind of Benz – the Unimog off-road truck.

Based on the equally unlikely-sounding Unimog Black Edition, the Brabus-fettled 4x4 features chrome hubcaps, a stainless-steel rollbar, chrome stack exhausts and a carbonfibre front apron. This, according to Brabus, doesn’t have much effect on downforce – the ‘Mog weighs 13 tonnes.

Inside there’s Alcantara, leather and lots of carbonfibre, including a centre console made of the stuff. It also gets the COMAND sat-nav/TV system from the S-class.

Surprisingly Brabus hasn’t touched the 6.4-litre straight six diesel, although it already has a respectable 276bhp and a very impressive 811lb ft – from 1200rpm. The whole things costs about £150,000.
