UK to become Swedish brand’s first market in which it solely sells cars directly to buyers

Volvo UK has confirmed it will switch to the ‘agency’ sales model – in which it will sell cars directly to buyers at fixed prices, rather than wholesale to dealers – from June.

As previously reported by Autocar, the UK is the first market in which the brand will operate the sales model. Sweden is the next market earmarked for the switch, with other European countries following later.

I think Jim Roman is right.  Something needs to change.  I am fed up with going to a dealer and getting a pushy salesman who is desperate to make a sale, and who insists on trying to sell GAP insurance, paint protection, SMART insurance, Wheel protection insurance etc etc etc, and always including it in the finance proposal, often inflating the monthly purchase price by more than £100.  All for crap you don't need.  And they always look at you as if you are insane if you don't want these ridiculously expensive products.

The end of these type of traditional dealers can't come soon enough.
